this article in the times today is a really nice way to spend a few minutes of the morning.

a funny thing happened on the way to the cab stand.

waiting to cross the street, standing on a grate and watching the traffic i had that realization that i think everyone has more or less sooner or later, that they are suddenly older, that a lot of things that could have happened didn’t and that the rhythm isn’t as uninterrupted and flexible as it once seemed to be.

every day there’s a moment of obsession. today i can’t stop reading the “experience” section of the guardian. the first-person narratives are by turns touching (“i was deported”) and absurd (“i’ve eaten only crisps for the past 10 years”) but are more or less consistently thoughtful. and regardless of topic i have to say i always appreciate a bit of thoughtful in my morning.
